Over the weekend there was more food exploration done. On Friday Gina and Nate came over and we made hot dogs. The hot dogs we purchased were filled with cheese and mustard. They were delicious. I also purchased some buns that looked like crescent rolls. They were much better then the ones in the United States.
On Saturday a group of us decided to go to Bologna. When we got off the train there was a flea market. Erin and I tried the fresh coconut that was at the market. It wasn’t as appetizing as it looked on the stand. There was a fountain drizzling fresh water onto it to make it look refreshing, which would have been great on such a hot day, but it left our mouths dry.
Bologna had amazing food stores. Everything was fresh and everyone was out to buy groceries. We walked into a meat and cheese specialty store that was amazing smelling and looking. There was an entire strip devoted to these specialty foods. The aroma in these places was extraordinary.
Happy hour in Bologna was full of wonderful foods. Erin and I sat down and ordered panini’s that consisted of Artichokes, cheese and ham on a hard roll. There was a huge spread of food that was out for happy hour also that consisted of small sandwiches, breads, cheeses, and meats.
Sunday we spent the day lounging around the city. For dinner Marisa, Jen and I cooked dinner. It was a ton of fun! The meal consisted of chicken with vegetables, Spanish rice, mashed potatoes with garlic and asparagus. It was really great tasting and a lot of fun to cook together.
